As a Christian, and a formally homeschooled child, I know that parents -- not Washington, D.C. or Raleigh bureaucrats -- should make the final decision regarding their children’s education.

In Congress, I will actively fight for the rights of homeschool parents and children. I’ll stand with organizations like the Home School Legal Defense Fund, the Madison Project and the North Carolinians for Home Education.

From opposing intrusive government regulations on homeschool parents, to supporting broader tax credits for homeschool families, and promoting home education as an excellent educational alternative, I will be a consistent friend in the House of Representatives.

As you know, homeschooled children, year in and year out, are ranked among the top academic students in the country. If given the honor of serving you in the United States House of Representatives, I will work tirelessly to defend you and your family’s right to choose how your child is educated. No one understands the needs of your child better than you.

Growing up in a Christian family I learned the values that matter most -- faith in God, strong families, hard work, standing up for what’s right, and helping folks in need. These are the same values I’ll take to Congress.

We need elected officials with the courage to stand unflinchingly for protecting human life. We need elected officials who will oppose those liberals who want to drive every reference to God and faith from our culture and public places. We need elected officials willing to oppose higher taxes and government regulations.

And, we need leaders who will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with President Bush as he works so hard to move our nation forward.
